There is nothing more important in our sector than the safety and protection of our workforce – and that’s why Core Highways is proud to be an active member of the Stamp It Out campaign.
Stamp It Out seeks to eradicate roadworker abuse through improved enforcement, education, reporting and communication.
Earlier this week, to mark the annual Respect our Workforce week Core Highways took an active lead in a key summit in London where the Stamp It Out campaign received Ministerial backing. Arranged in conjunction with the Department for Transport, National Highways and the National Police Chiefs' Council, Core Highways was Principal Sponsor for the event.
After Future Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood opened the summit and reinforced the UK Government’s commitment to eradicating roadworker abuse, the audience heard from a number of key note speakers on the proactive steps being taken across the sector. This included Chief Inspector Steve O’Keefe on behalf of the National Police Chiefs Council and how ever closer working between the Police and the highway sector is leading to a zero tolerance approach to roadworker abuse of any form.
Our Managing Director (Major Projects & National Clients) Simon White presented the leading work Core Highways and our partners Immense are doing with advance modelling to develop traffic impact assessments for roadworks. These impact assessments are helping improve and inform our roadworks designs to better identify impacted customers, reduce journey times and identify optimal roadworks strategies and in doing so reduce customer impact and frustration that can trigger roadworker abuse.
"There is nothing more important in our sector than the safety and protection of our workforce and so, in this Respect our Workforce Week, I was pleased to be able to play an active part in the Stamp It Out campaign’s Ministerial briefing"
- Simon White, Managing Director (Major Projects & National Clients)
